Updating my processor?

I have a HP Compaq Presario CQ56. I want to use it for gaming, games like Arma II/III etc. I know that the processor is not very powerful at all and I don't want to buy another laptop yet. Is it possible to give my laptop to a company like PC World and let them upgrade it or is it possible to upgrade it myself? i really want to upgrade. Any help?

Depends on what CPU you have now if you can upgrade it or not. I doubt it is worth the cost, though. You would be better off saving up for a new laptop. This has a list of available chips your laptop came with depending on if it is an Intel or AMD equipped one. Looking this list, I say it is not worth wasting your money.

Typically laptop CPUs are soldered onto the motherboard. The cost of replacing a processor would be much, much higher than simply buying a new laptop.

Typically, only BGA chips are soldered in. I did upgrade my old Compaq from a T2310 Pentium Dual Core to a T7700 Core 2. I got the Core 2 cheap and it was a worthy upgrade back then. The choices the OP has makes such a venture a waste of $$$.
