CPU Cooler Doesn't Fit

Well I messed up and bought a cooler master V8 CPU cooler for my 1150 Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H build. Is there anything I can buy to install it on my motherboard?

More about cpu cooler fit
  1. Should work, is it the stock (original) or the GTS? Check the back plate which I believe is adjustable on the original if I remember right - I know the new GTS V8 works, just put it on my Hero today

Not quite sure, but when I screwed the brackets on to the cooler and placed it over the motherboard the holes did not line up
  3. Do you have the right brackets, haven't used one in awhile of the original, but think it came with 1 bracket for AMD and a pair of different ones for Intel

The hole spacing for all Intel 5, 6, 7, and 8 series chipsets is the same. There are only some minor compatibility issues with X79 motherboards due to the lack of a reference cooler and many motherboards having built in backplates. All LGA1156, LGA1155, and LGA1150 sockets are identical as far as cooling is concerned. The holes should line up.
  5. I know I had the right brackets on. I followed the instructions. Here is a link to the one I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103055
  6. Says it works with LGA1155, so it should work. No physical difference in mounting.

Are you sure you didn't use the LGA775 bracket? They're quite similar.

On Sunday I will have time to try putting the brackets on and seeing if maybe I made a dumb mistake the first time around. Especially based on what you said.

Maybe that was it. On Sunday I am gonna take my PC apart and try and install it.
