I intend to assemble a new workstation for HD video editing. I'll be using Adobe Premiere, probably CS6 for now and eventually some photoshop and AE, but only as a complement. I dont intend to OC. I'll be editing from short movies to 90 minute documentaries. This is the configuration. What do you think? Will it hold nicelly? My intention is to not loose a lot of time in rendering and exporting anymore.

Xeon CPUs are not supported by Asus' consumer motherboards. If you want to go the Xeon route you will need to buy a motherboard with firmware that supports Xeon CPUs such as the Asus Z87-WS which has the Z87 chipset, or P9D-WS which uses the C226 chipset.

Adobe CS6 supports OpenCL graphics acceleration, which AMD Radeon cards are currently the best at.

HD 7970 or HD 7990

Western Digital Caviar Blue - Is their lower end drives

You want a Black or Red which give longer warranties.

I picked the asus sabertooth as I saw it also had the Z87 chipset, and it was LGA 1150... so they are differente? the WS and the sabertooh? I wanted to go with Asus as a choice beacause all the machines I assembled in the past had Asus and they never gave me trouble, and I dont really know Asrock, but a lot of people suggested Asrock to me. If I wanted to go with Asus, there are only those 2? Another thing, I was looking in newwegg for the WS and there, they dont say the ws supports it. Why there are so few boards, or I found few boards, that support Xeon?

Thanks for the reply

Thank you for your reply. I dont know much about computer hardware. Wouldn't going for a cheaper board might trouble the efficience of the system? It might be a dumb question, but what will I gain in perfomance if I go with higher end mobos?

The company that manufactures the board needs to add support for the Xeon CPUs into the board's firmware. Without that, using an unsupported CPU will not work. Asus lists CPU support for each motherboard on their website. Find the model that you want to inquire about, then click on the "support" tab, and then on the "CPU support" tab. Xeon CPUs are usually listed at the bottom.

EDIT: I agree with your wanting to use an Asus board, they make amazing products.
