Can I use DDR2 800 and 1066 sticks together?

I have 2x 2GB Hynix sticks and I also happen to have 2x 2GB Corsair sticks. My question is can I run these together for a total of 8GB?

The Hynix are DDR2 800MHz 5-5-5-18 1.8v
The Corsairs are DDR2 1066MHz 5-5-5-15 2.1v
The motherboard is an Asus P5Q SE Plus which can support up to 16GB.

The way I see it I'd have to run these at around the Hynix's settings for them to work. At first I popped them in and turned on the PC hoping it would automatically choose appropriate settings. It ran fine for a while then I started getting BSOD's. Tried Memtest86 and it showed no errors. Some more time has passed and now I can rarely even get POST with the Corsairs. I was able to get POST with one Corsair stick flying solo, but it BSOD'ed while loading Windows 7. It was set at 800MHz 1.9v though. After that I couldn't get POST again.

Can anyone recommend me some settings to run these at (if it's even possible)?

It sounds like it. I would probably go ahead and RMA it HERE and since it is so old you might get some better stuff in exchange. I did from Mushkin the last time I RMA'd old memory.

Yes although you shouldn't mix, you can, and you are correct that you need to run them at the Hynix settings. The Corsairs probably need over 1.9V even though they will run slower than spec -- I would start at 2.0V and run MEMTEST86 and bump up 0.1V at a time until you pass.

The Hynix should be okay at 2.1V.

Double check your bios setting for the RAM speed and timings to insure that they are the slower values.

But I can't even boot with the Corsairs. It used to run at first, isn't there anything I can do to make it run again?

Ah you edited your post. Will try it, thanks. Any other ideas still welcome.

Still can't get POST with the Corsairs. Tried at 800MHz 5-5-5-18 2.0V and it wouldn't work, not with all 4 sticks, not even with just the Corsairs by themselves. Should I try 2.1V? That sounds scary, I'd need to boot with the Hynix...

Not recently. Initially they ran fine on my machine and even after the BSOD's started they could still pass Memtest86. After that they just lied on my desk for a while. Pretty sure nothing spilled on them or anything.

I know that 2.1v is the rated level for the Corsairs but I still need to set this while running the Hynix because I can't get into BIOS with the Corsairs. Are you sure 2.1v won't fry the Hynix or my CPU?

Making some progress. Loaded up on one Corsair stick at 2.1V. Will try adding more sticks.

Edit: Well I still can't get POST on all four sticks. Took out the Hynix and tried it again with just the two Corsairs at 800MHz 5-5-5-18 and 2.1V. As soon as it loaded up Windows I got a white screen and then it rebooted. Is there something wrong with this RAM?
