cant connect to internet on new build

Hello, my laptop works fine on the ethernet cable but, the new computer just doesn't connect or register the cable.
not sure whats wrong? anyhelp would be great

With a new computer build there a motherbard driver cd. On the cd will be the mb chipset drivers and the sound card and the Ethernet drivers. Start with the mb chipset driver then the other drivers. When one under device manager should not be any yellow !!!!.
