Hey guys this is going to be my first build and I was reading a review about the Haswell chips not being very good. Is it worth it to go with an FX 8350 instead of i5-4670k? If so what MoBo would you suggest? Plan on using it mostly for gaming but eventually will become my primary computer. Plan on getting GTX 760 regardless of intel or amd. Thanks.

Haswell does overclock well, there was heat generation issues in some processors, but that was small and is not a problem in current revisions :)

The haswell based processors can OC to 4.2Ghz pretty easily with a low end cooler and higher easily with a better cooler.

There is NO AMD processor in existence today that can beat an i5-4670K unfortunetely.

well I was reading that the Haswell is awful to overclock though... is there an AMD that beats the Haswell at that price range?

edit* also is the Asus Z87-PLUS a good MoBo if I plan on doing a bunch of gaming. I am trying to keep my build as close to 1K usd as possible.

thanks ps3hacker12 I think I will end up getting the i5 considering its only $20 more anyways. Was just worried about the oc capabilities but I think with a hyper evo 212 I should be fine. Will also be running 2 200mm 1 140mm and 1 120mm fan.

I would suggest that if you want to save a bit of money then take a look at the i5 3570K or the i7 3770K. They are great overclockers and just as fast as the Haswells. Plus I think the motherboards are a bit cheaper as well. Food for thought.
