The Noctua NH-D14 is a great cooler, I own it, however the fans are VOLTAGE which many motherboards cannot control.

When I got a new Motherboard I hooked up my NH-D14 and discovered this. I was able to use the CASE FAN controllers from the motherboard (support PWM and Voltage fans) to gain speed control. The temperature sensor is from a different part of the motherboard so I had to tweak things slightly (tweak fan profile while monitoring the actual CPU sensor for CPU temp).

There are several other great coolers including LIQUID COOLING. Corsair has some good ones though I've heard reports of problems with the H80i.

Try going to NCIX and Newegg to list compatible coolers for the 1155 socket and read customer reviews.

BeQuiet CPU coolers are designed for quiet operation...and most of them actually are quiet. You might wanna check those out.

Or you could just go for a heatsink-only and add suitable, quiet fans of your choice.
Same can of course be done with many CPU coolers.
