Hey there, been getting into computers recently and want to build a quality gaming rig on a low budget. On craigslist I found a $60 server that had the following specs:
Dual 2.8GHz Intel Xeon processors
2gb DDR2-800 RAM
Dual Gigabit Ethernet
420w PSU

First off, I'm wondering if dual xeon's will run as good as like a $100 quad core processor? If I bought a hard drive, case, graphics card and 8gb ddr3 ram would this make a good gaming pc? Also, would the motherboards for the server go in just like a normal desktop mother board? Would it have a graphics card slot?

I have a ddr5 1gb graphics card fyi
Thanks,
Sam

There's a good chance those Xeons are 32bit, it may or may not have a PCI Express slot, your DDR3 RAM wouldn't fit in a DDR2 board, 420W is pretty weak to run any sort of decent GPU on, server boards are often non standard sized to fit in rackmount cases, there may not even be a hard drive controller on the board.

There's basically a nothing going for your idea, but it's difficult to tell with so little technical information. Sorry.
