synaptics touch pad and windows 8

Hi I have just installed windows 8 on a machine previously running windows 7. It was a laptop with a synaptics touch pad pointing device. I did a clean install and kept none of the drivers so I was wondering how to get the drivers back for windows 8 if there is any. I can move the mouse and click things but I don't have any of the multi-touch settings activated which is a bummer on windows 8. Any help? Thanks!

Give me the make and model of the notebook. Also include any service tags or anythign like that to help out.

I found out that I had not activated my windows 8 software so it was blocking the extra features. Im activated now and its working fine but thank you for your time.

activating has nothing to do with the features. You just got Windows updates and it found a lesser generic driver. But hey, whatever your happy with.

Im just saying that it had time to do the automatic Windows Updates. Which finds the more advanced generic driver. You was using the most generic touchpad driver before, which doesnt have all the cool little features like gestures and pinch and zoom and stuff like that. So Windows update, after about a hour or so of sitting there found out what kind of touchpad you had and gave it a better generic driver. But it is still NOT the specific driver for your touchpad. The only way you will get yor exact drivr is by installing it yourself. But if you are happy with the generic driver, thats great.

Toshiba C55A Laptop, with genuine OEM windows 8.1 4gb ram with Celeron dual core processor.The Synaptic V7 touch pad stopped working.

It stopped working when :

Windows update failed
Did a system restore
Re-installed updates
Touch pad still not working
Microsoft tech suggested windows re-instal due corrupt files.
Re-installed windows, problem persists

At the Device Manager:

Uninstalled the touch pad driver
Re-installed various versions of the driver, including the latest one from windows update
Still the problem persists
I am working with a usb mouse 1
HELP !
