http:// - DMP FILES HERE. Hi, I recently built my first PC (about 2 weeks ago or so) and I have been getting BSOD while playing games. The BSOD only has happened on Call of Duty World at War while loading a custom zombie map, Battlefield 3 and Battlefield bad company 2 from just playing for a few minutes and planetside 2 just after I installed it and tried to launch it. Although it never happened to planetside 2 on start up again. I have tried many things such as reinstalling windows 7, reinstalling drivers and the games, switching the ram to the other two slots. Nothing works! I also tried doing stress tests such as 3DMARK 11 and Furmark for the GPU, no crashes! I went to bluescreenview and every dmp file says its caused by ntoskrnl.exe. On another forum someone decoded the dump files and he said is most likely memory related. However, I just switched the ram to new kingston ram I bought. That didnt fix it. I also have Minecraft and it has never happened while playing that game even after like a 5 hour session. It also has never happened while doing anything besides playing the games I mentioned earlier. The STOP error I get is 0x0000007e Please help! I will attach my last 5 dmp files in this post.

System Specs:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
i7-3770k stock clocks (Cooled with an arctic cooling freezer 13 air cooler)

this is what I found in you dump files:

crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntkrpamp.exe (nt!Kei386EoiHelper+0x17D4)
Bugcheck code: 0x7F (0x8, 0xFFFFFFFF8E503750, 0x0, 0x0)
Error: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
Bug check description: This bug check indicates that the Intel CPU generated a trap and the kernel failed to catch this trap.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: ntkrpamp.exe .
Google query: ntkrpamp.exe UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\072413-13088-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x851E0)...

product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System

description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This indicates that a system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

Make sure windows is updated all drivers are updated. Some virus scanners cause it might need to uninstall then reinstall

no system restore will take it back to a point depending on which one you choose to a time before you tried windows update:

click start and in the search box type system restore the wizard will start and choose one before you tried windows update they should all be dated. Any time you install something your pc will create a restore point just in case something goes wrong you can go back.

Ok I'll try that tomorrow because I'm busy the rest of the day, but I tried uninstalling one update and it says Razer Synapse was blocking it from un installing so maybe it was blocking some from being installed because I had Synapse before I updated windows for the first time.

I did more research maybe this will help:

Cause of this error:
This error message can occur if either of the following conditions exists:
• Your computer has hardware or software problems (hardware failure is the most common cause).
• You try to over clock the speed of your computer's processor (for example, you set a 150 MhZ processor to run at 187 MhZ).

The above STOP error means a trap occurred in kernel mode and the trap is either one the kernel is not allowed to have or is always fatal. The most common causes of a STOP 0x7F are:
• Low-level hardware corruption, such as corrupt memory (RAM)
• Mismatched memory modules
• A malfunctioning motherboard

Resolution:
To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:
• If either software or hardware can cause a particular trap, a debug is required to determine which is the cause. If you suspect a hardware problem, try the following hardware troubleshooting steps:

1. Sincde you have checked the RAM in the computer by running the diagnostic software that is provided by the computer manufacturer. Replace any RAM that is reported as bad. Also, make sure that all the RAM in the computer is the same speed.

2. Try removing or swapping out controllers, cards, or other peripherals.

3. Try a different motherboard on the computer.
• If you are over clocking the speed of your processor, set it back to the speed at which it is designed to run.
• Check with the hardware vendor for any updated hardware drivers or BIOS updates, or both.
BIOS Disclaimer:
Modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can
causeserious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.

4. Try removing the graphics card and then check if you get the error message, If the error still exists that means this is occuring because of a faulty RAM.

Okay, sounds like a different issue then.. i would not install that update as Microsoft is working on a fix to that particular update, you can hide the update by right clicking on it and click on 'hide update' you'll need to be in administrator to do this i believe.

Ok how do I disable that? I asked a friend who has been working with computers for a while and he said that this problem is caused by a faulty grahpics card, which I think might be the problem since It also has 2 gigs of memory in it. If I can't figure it out soon I'm gonna try and get the card replaced with the EVGA warranty.

Here's a step by step guide with photos: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24376-windows-update-hide-restore-hidden-updates.html

The only reason to disable it is because you don't want to either have a new problem after you replace the graphics card or if you think you remedied the problem you end up having another one and wondering what it is.

I reinstalled windows and got all the updates to succeed. I installed all my drivers again and BF3. While BF3 was installing I got a BSOD that was the exact same thing as the other one. Atleast I think because I walked in the room to see if the game was done downloading and I saw windows restarting and it said it recovered from an unexpected crash like normal withe the same bccode and everything. I tried to download BF3 again and it downloaded. Boot it up, 2 minutes in I get BSOD, same thing. Then I thought maybe the factory overclock on the card was unstable so I underclocked it to that of a normal 670. I was playing BF3 for about 20 minutes which was longer than usuall so I thought I had found my problem. But no, got the dreaded BSOD again. Do you think it could be my video card since it took longer to get BSOD after underclocking?
