Short question: Is it possible that speedfan while beeing activated somehow makes my graphicscards go even hotter than usual ?

I got my fans running at 30% and the chips are up to 55-60°C (130°F-140°F) while watching youtube videos...

Is that normal or is this speedfan's fault?

System:
2x Gigabyte 7970s Ghz
MSI Z77a GD55
Corsair HX850

Ask if you need anything else, i can provide any data needed.

sorry for my terrible english.

Those temps are not impossible at all, especially if you have 2 cards directly adjacent to each other. I sometimes run one monitor of my 5850 and my main monitor off my 7870 and with this setup the 5850 idles (just on the plain desktop) at 71C just because of the proximity to the other card.
As the other people have said, speedfan will not heat up your GPU (or change anything at all) unless you specifically tell it to. Have you changed any fan settings at all?
Speedfan inherently wont make your GPU's run hotter unless you get it too lower fan speeds, by virtue of just being there it wouldnt change anything.
Use a program like MSI Afterburner to set up a fan profile for your cards, much better tool than speedfan which is better for your CPU and case fans.

Overdrive is just AMD's overclocking utility that comes integrated with the driver. IMO there are much better tools to use like MSI Afterburner (My personal choice) or Sapphire Trixx. It will do the same job, just the other software's just generally have more features and open up more options for you.

I guess 55-60 degree Celsius is a pretty stable temperature considering your Crossfire system with the abysmally fast HD 7970s. Also you haven't mentioned what cabinet you are using. You may be able to bring down that temperature by 2-3 degrees using a cabinet with good air flow. And a fan can never heat you GPU up. How can it? It's there to beat the heat right? Also if you are not comfortable with those temperatures which I would say are quite expected you can go to AMD Overdrive and increase fan speeds manually to 100%. That should bring the temperature down by 3-4 degrees I reckon.

Yes it can! But is it a problem? my answer is no!
lets start with saying that everyones repleies are very knowledgeable and I am in no way trying to discredit anyone on this thread!!!

Speed fan makes your cpu and gpu overclock which does heat it up a bit more due to the added frequency! Provided you have turbo boost enabled!

but the purpose of the speed fan is to cool down those two components to safe temperatures. =)

if you where likely damaging your gpu or cpu you would know it... there would be a error or a freaze with your system and sometimes even a BSOD.
there are counter measured built into the cpu and mobo to counter these problems. even though there has been reports of them not functioning properly. usually they do as long as all your software is up to date.

so rest assured that that temp is a ok. and you have nothing to worry about =)
