All components brand new:
CPU: AMD FX-8350
MoBo: Gigabyte FX 990 UD3
Thermaltake 750 W
GeForce GTX 650 2GB DDR5
16 GB Crucial DDR3-1600 (4 X 4GB)
WD 1 TB blue HDD
Samsung 250 GB SSD

This is my first custom build. I followed various guides and tested all components in an external build and inside the case. I had no issue being able to boot into BIOS. I heard the one POST beep and it seemed to work fine.

I initially tried putting in a Windows 7 upgrade CD and doing an install to the SSD but I kept getting a "BOOTMGR is missing" error.

Finally, I ended up putting in a Windows 7 HP OEM DVD and tried to install again. It all seemed to be working until the installation did a reboot.

After that, I can not hear the POST Beep an I get stuck at the gigabyte splash screen. I cannot use my mouse/KB to get into BIOS.

Thanks.

This is my best guess for you to try. I don't think you can use HP Window 7 OEM to install on gigabyte MB. At this point, I think you need to clear your CMOS so atleast it will allow you to get into Bios. Look at your gigabyte MB manual to see how to clear your CMOS. On my Z77 MSI MB, while system is power down, I just need to set the jumper to clear the CMOS, then remove the jumper after 10 sec; this put everything back into default.

On BOOTMGR missing, I think you need to go into BIOS to select your SSD as first option to bootup since you have window setup in SSD.

Ok, I reset the MoBo settings by using CMOS. That allowed me once again to go into BIOS and boot properly (POST beep is heard, can boot from a drive, BIOS settings available.) I still had issues with BOOTMGR and installing Windows, so I took out all my RAM except the 2nd slot. Seems like one of the slots or sticks is at fault.

Everything worked fine. I installed Windows.
