Approximate Purchase Date: August

Budget Range: $800(Please do not include rebates)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming

Buying a monitor: No

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: None

Location: US

Parts Preferences: Maybe a 7970 would fit in the budget? Also is the Ghz's edition worth the extra 50$? Or can i easily overclock to a 7970 ghz performance. Also What would the best brands for Amd Gpu be, i think i heard asus and sapphire run the quietest/coolest. Which card will be easiest to overclock with even though every card overclocks differently. Also i will be installing a os from a thumbdrive so no optical bay will be needed.

Overclocking: Yep.

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe?

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920*1080 maybe in a year i will get another monitor...

Additional Comments: I really want a Fractal Design Arc Midi R2, Or a case with good reviews good airflow nice cable management and a side window...

Why Are You Upgrading: My Laptop cant even run League of legends on low settings with 60+fps...

Thanks a lot guys! I will be purchasing in about a week or two, thanks!!!

When you drop windows from the build the cost when not counting rebates it about $800. You won't be able to OC much now though, but you could upgrade that in the future. Sneaking a 7970 into a build this cheap would be near impossible and you'd have to make some very serious quality sacrifices. At $1000 you could, but not at $800, especially when not including rebates. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't say impossible - without Windows, and going back to the standby XFX 550W and a 200R case, he can get within $10 of $800 (though obviously hurts his crossfire potential) with a Sapphire 7970.

Well I think someone somewhere just showed us
Both that you can actually fit a 7970 in a 800$ build... I don't think many sacrfices were made except a 6 core CPU. Anyways thanks anyways I was about to lose hope in a 7970.

Hey man Thanks for taking your time and reading my thread but I was just wondering can you answer this part from the thread "Also is the Ghz's edition worth the extra 50$? Or can i easily overclock to a 7970 ghz performance. Also What would the best brands for Amd Gpu be, i think i heard asus and sapphire run the quietest/coolest" please it would mean a lot :). Thanks in advance!

On a budget, probably not. It's useful to have the little extra power, but $50 is a little too much in your budget for what really isn't a huge upgrade (and I say that as an owner of a 7970 Ghz).

Sapphire, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI (and a few more) are all good GPU brands (though I'm not doubt omitting a couple as it's 2 AM).
