Can i add 8GB RAM (1333/1600) to my existing (4GBx3=12GB) (1333)

I have Intel DB75EN board, i5 3550, with 3 sticks of 4GB RAM (1333) total 12GB.
I need more RAM to instal virtual machines. Can i add 8GB RAM to the one available slot.

That motherboard supports up to 1600Mhz RAM. So you can definitely add that.

However it's best that you keep everything in one RAM "kit". So no, don't mix and match.

Sell your old RAM and get a new kit which has the amount you want; that way you're sure

that things will work out. The RAM have different timings and settings and these things can

easily conflict. Must be some serious VMs you're running there.
