Please suggest some options for me to look at for a new build.

I need an idea of what sort of quality/power of parts I should get. I don't really know what's overkill and what isn't for me. See if you can help me settle on a well balanced build :)

Reason For Upgrade: My pre-built computer from 2009 is pretty dated by now (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883114078). Also, I'm planning on getting involved in digital art and working with code soon.

Intended Use: Streaming movies, web browsing, Youtube in 1080p would be cool, creating art and animation in programs like Photoshop and Illustrator, writing coding and compiling code, as for gaming- flash games and older CD games (2005/6).

Budget: As a rough estimate I'll say $1000. I'm not determined to spend that much, but I do want a fast pc since I use it a lot. I could be convinced in either direction.

Purchase Date: I don't see any reason to wait once I decide what to get.

Preferences: I'd rather go with Intel than AMD. USB 3.0 would be nice since my external HHD supports it.

I'm not interested in overclocking, RAM disk, or an SSD. I want to keep my first build pretty simple.

I am keeping my monitor for now (23" 1080p 60Hz LED).

For the OS, I think Windows 7 would suit me better that 8 since it's a desktop. Isn't there some way to get that cheap?

So please give me some advice. The only thing I'm sure of is that I want a 2TB HDD.

Thanks for answering, I probably should have at least guessed at some parts.

After researching a bit, I think I will be fine with the integrated graphics if I go with a Haswell CPU. Perhaps the i7-4770 would be a better place for that money. My gaming isn't significant and the onboard HD 4600 can stream HD well I hear. It's mostly the game development I need to cater to.

The other parts look great though, minus the SSD I don't want. Thanks for giving me a place to start.

ohkay then integrated graphics are enough
