ok

I installed a partitopm software a while back to make a D:

Now when I boot with 0 down and turn on the laptop.. I get the option of REFRESH OR FACTORY RESET..

I select either and I get a message insert the media

so I assume I currupted the path

I found the RECOVERY hidden drive

copied the RECOVERY folder to my C:

it has all the SWM files

is there any way I can create the recovery DVD'S at this point..

I don't have $40 to pay for them

thank you

Solution
Create a repair disk and System Image, perfect to restore your system in future
At your Start Screen, type 'Recovery''. From Settings choose 'Windows 7 File Recovery'
Both Repair Disk/Drive and System Image can be created here...
Best to create the Repair Disk on a USB Flash and the System Image on a separate, large capacity USB storage device.

Hi.. I get a error when opening RECOVERY MEDIA CREATOR in windows 8.. so I assume the path to the hidden partition is corrupted. I do see the hidden RECOVERY partition and I copied the RECOVERY folder to my C:

Not sure if there is a way to take those SWM files ans make the disc..

thanks for your reply

Correct.. my wife let the security software expire and it has a ton of crap on it and I tried cleaning it and it's no use. I need to wipe the drive and being on disability I can't do the $40 for the dvd's I have tried going into the restore on boot and both options I get a error please insert your media..and when in windows 8 going into the creature software it also error out can't open.

PM me your address and I'll send you a 'backup copy' of Win 8, but you'll need your Product key, hopefully on the base of your laptop.... might take a few days to reach you, but better than shelling out $40!

Dodger46, please may I also get the same information as okiemike, I'm in the same boat as okiemike (son's computer is yucked up with junk). Son's laptop needs to be wiped but has no recovery CD, and son is a student on a budget ($40. from Toshiba). Product key can be provided. We would appreciate any help very much! Thanks!

You can download Win 8 from these links depending on which version you have the Product Key for.
Windows 8 Installation Media
OEM/Retail
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=271128
Upgrade
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=262204
You must download from a PC using the same architecture as the one being installed to (32 or 64 bit)

Dodger46, can I get the same information for the recovery disc as okiemike and poskagirl? My wife's 855D-S5340 with Windows 8 is having the same problem and I've been out of work for almost 9 months, and can't afford the $40 for a recovery disc from Toshiba.
