pls help i5 2500k or i7 3370k for games

Solution
If you are confused as to whether a cpu or graphics upgrade would be better,
to help clarify your options, run these two tests:

a) Run your games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely cpu limited.

b) Limit your cpu, either by reducing the OC, or, in windows power management, limit the maximum cpu% to something like 50%.
This will simulate what a lack of cpu power will do.

Go to control panel/power options/change plan settings/change advanced power settings/processor power management/maximum processor state/
set to 50% and see how you do.

If your FPS drops...
If buying new, I wouldn't consider any socket 1155 components, but if you have a 2500k, there is absolutely no reason to upgrade to a 3770k .... and there's no reason to upgrade to a 4670k. SB overclocks better than IB which OCs better than Haswell ..... so when all is said and done.... performance is not that much different .... for example, IB OCs about 6% better than HW but HW starts out about 10% faster .....so an upgrade for 4% is hard to justify.

I dont think there is such a cpu as a i7-3370K.
I think you mean i5-3570K or i7-3770K.

Regardless, the graphics card is the more important component for gaming.
Your 2500K is still very good, particularly if you have given it a conservative overclock.
You would get perhaps 10% more compute power with a 3570K. A 3770K has hyperthreading which is of marginal benefit to the gamer.
I think save your money. Use it instead on a cpu cooler and overclock the 2500K if you have not already done so.

If your FPS drops significantly, it is an indicator that your cpu is the limiting factor, and a cpu upgrade is in order.

It is possible that both tests are positive, indicating that you have a well balanced system, and both cpu and gpu need to be upgraded to get better gaming FPS.

In general, you will be disappointed if you do an upgrade that is small, and you do not notice a big improvement.
