system stopped recognizing previously working hdd after reassembling pc

hey.....i had ide 40gb n sata 500gb back from warranty....

i tried to format from usb n changed boot priority...

i dissembled my pc n re assembled it n it started GIVING BSOD....if i remove 500gb one it boots....now i changed priority to hdd....

now it wont give bsod but it wont boot with 500gb is connected..

i tried changing ram slots....removed graphix card m other things....

its not recognizing other hdd n it gives an error in start n asks to press f1

if i put only 500gb one it says insert boot device..........

dual core
2gb ddr2 800mhz ram
8600gt

it is giving third mastr error in start.....please help....i got it rmad n i have data in tat hdd.....i got it 2 times replaced ....i trust this community

What exactly are you trying to do.
Are you using the 40gb IDE drive as the boot drive with windows on it.
And is your intention to use the Sata HD as extra storage.

Or do you want to use the sata 500Gb drive as the boot drive with windows Os installed it, and the 40Gb IDE drive as a second drive.

hey bro thnx for replying.....i have windows installed in both actually....so i m just trying to use both....it doesnt matter which one is master ....but my 2nd hdd 500gb one is not working.....n i notice at bootup it starts spinning n then there is a click sound n error comes......
