I have a Sapphire HD 4850 X2 which is now causing my setup to fail to boot.

I was playing a game today when my system froze. I initially attempted a reboot and noticed that the GFX card fans were not powered. I then powered off and waited 5 mins to do some basic diagnostics (which I can confirm that the PSU and motherboard is working fine). When trying to boot now, the GFX card fans do spin however after about 1 second I think the GFX POST prevents the computer from continuing to boot.

In that brief second the LEDs on the GFX card light up with D1250 GREEN and then after about half a second D25 flashes RED and then the system powers off. If I leave the PSU on it will continue this cycle.

Looking around the web D25 means:

"D25 : Boot up fault LED (Re-plug the VGA board or D1601,D29,D30 all failed)"

I have taken the card out, cleaned up some of the dust from it (and the mobo) however when putting it all back the same happens. Is there anyway to diagnose this further or is my GPU now dead?

Solution
Well boot it up on another system. If it works on another system then that would point to a problem with your PSU or motherboard. It's always sad when a trusted part bites the dust, but hey probably time for an upgrade :D

Not at the moment, I will take it to work with me tomorrow and try it out there. I think it's dead too, real shame as it's served me well for the past few years!
