everything is just wrong with this CPU compare to my FX 6300. Windows feels more responsive with my 6 core and the 8 core sockets gets way too hot for my liking with just a little more that default Vcore. The reason why i pick up this CPU is to see if i get better performance from my Crossfire XFX DD 7870's in BF3 which i dont. Also trying to OC this 8320 i get freezes going over 4ghz and i cant use more Vcore because its feels like my NB and Mobo is frying. Heres a little test comparing both CPU's.

AMD FX 6300 @ 4.3GHZ

AMD FX 8320 @ 4GHZ, gets up to 70C+ with more Vcore on the socket temps

AMD overdrive only shows the core temps which is the same as everything software. I have the 8320 at stock settings, did a 5 run on IBT and core temps got up to 40C while Sockets temps are at 55C. Vocre is anywhere between 0.8-1.3 depends on what the frequency is which also fluctuate from 1.4-3.7Ghz (does not hit 4Ghz).

Update;
i have OC to 4ghz with 1.344 Vcore and two mins of Prime95 sockets hit 72C. Is my cooling really this bad? i mean i could do 4.5ghz with 1.45Vcore on my FX 6300 and my sockets temps still stays lower than the FX 8320

Interesting I have aftermarket heatsink on my fx8320 and I am running it at stock speeds the temps vary so much and so fast that i dont understand how its possible. I enter a game and just being on the menu screen not even playing my cpu reaches 65-70c. I went in game for a min it hit 72c. Im gona try and return this cpu and get another one. Its insane how hot it gets while doing basic tasks. Even when i browse the web il hit 45c

So im not sure if your cooling is bad or if its just this batch that runs so hot

Old thread, just FYI.

The power wattage for the FX 6300 is 95W and the FX 8320 125W. So the FX 8320 will definitely run hotter. I've also read that the AMD processers sometimes have bad sensors; reporting 10C higher than usual.

I just noticed this is an old thread. Stop bumping them up in the forums -____-
