Hello all,

I'm relatively new to the DIY scene and I LOVE IT!
My first and only build I did only two months ago (mini-ITX / Bitfenix Prodigy Red / 3770K / 7970...).

I'm already thinking about my next system, even though it's not anytime soon I'm going to be building it.

I'm looking for full ATX cases. Most of these cases have a LOT of optical drive bays, 4 usually. Which seems strange to me especially since it's such an old technology and one DVD or Blu Ray drive is adequate for most users.

So I was wondering if I could somehow put hard drives and/or SSDs in those bays, and whether those drives would be hot-swappable from the outside without opening the case.

Yes you can with an adapter. Of course even with said adapter the controller the drives connect to must allow for hot swap.
