This problem is very strange.

I reinstalled my System using Norton Ghost onto my HP DM1Z netbook with an AMD E-450 chip, 8 GB Ram, 7200 RPM 500 GB Hard drive, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, which has three USB 2.0 ports.

My Logitech Marble Mouse has always worked on any of the 3 ports, until yesterday after reinstalling my Ghost image. The Mouse works on two of the ports, but not my favorite one that I've always used, which has this peculiar problem:

When I plug the USB Marble Mouse into my favorite port, the computer makes the sound that it always does when it acknowledges a new device being plugged in, but then the Marble Mouse won't actually work. And when I disconnect the Marble Mouse the computer makes the sound again of the device being unplugged. Several times I have tried, and according to one other thread, I shut down and disconnected the power and battery for a few minutes to let the motherboard clear. That did not help.

The Mouse does work on the other two ports, but not this one in particular, and like I said, the computer makes the sound acknowledging a new device being plugged in or unplugged.

One other thing. Other devices plugged into this "bad" USB port, do work. Only my Marble Mouse is failing on this port for some reason.

Any suggestions, please?

When I look at my Device Manager, there are no issues, and all the USB lines state that things are working properly.

How do I reinstall USB device drivers? Do you just disable them, and then they get reinstalled automatically when the system boots up?
