Should I overclock my CPU?

I've just purchased a 2Gb GTX670 GV-N670OC-2GD and am planning on ordering the i5-4670k and Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Mobo.

Was just wondering if anyone would mind telling me if it's worth purchasing a CPU cooler and OCing the CPU, (will I see a dramatic rise in fps during gaming).

Thanks very much for your time :)

Solution
That is not a slow cpu or anything.

It will depend 100% on the game and its settings. Some games get a boost from more cpu speed, while others do not.

I would recommend an aftermarket cooler simply for the better temperatures and more quiet operation. The Cooler Master Hyper 212 series of coolers is very popular because it is not expensive and performs very well(from experience).

Okay thanks :) Think I'll run the system as it is and if I don't manage to get 60 or so fps on something such as GW2 on high settings (which I believe is more CPU than GPU intensive), then I might OC by 5% or so with a cooler

Guild Wars 2 jumps from cpu to video card bottleneck depending on the zone and how many players.

I think in general, you will be good in all but the most populated zones.

You may also want to lock your frame rate at 60 because things can get rather warm letting the frame rates run un-capped(and those extra frames just to not help this kind of game much.).

You can also use Nvidia Inspector to make your own custom FPS limit for GW2(if you want to say try 40 or 50 to avoid the feeling of fps drops in more loaded zones or large battles).

Great advice thanks :) If I could just bug you one last time? What temp should I keep the cpu under to be safe?

Intel has a Tcase rating of 72c MAX. This is the temperature at the top center of the cpu's heat spreader so the core temp would be a good 10-15c higher.

In general, most users prefer to keep either under 60c or 70c depending on preference.

For me, mid 60's under heavy load are not an issue at all.

Some users will even go farther and push it right to 80c

my 2600K(yeah my cpu is not the newest thing on the market) @ 4.4 is currently @ 66(22c room in a case with very low air flow) peak hottest core with Prime95 and a H80i(just got it and have the fans set at ~1200). Please note this cooler was MUCH lower at a higher fan speed but was WAY to loud. I still recommend the 212 coolers for almost all users :)
