I am a college student and I'm planning to build a system on a low budget. A local store has a sale for an Intel Core i5-2310 Processor (2.9 Ghz, Turbo 3.2 Ghz) for $100. Aslo, they have a Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti for $100 on sale. I was wondering if these two components are good enough to run most modern games on high with playable frame rates. I am on a very low budget and $20 can be the difference between eating Ramen for a week or eating descent.

Intel Core i5-2310 2.9Ghz-3.2Ghz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti

Sandy Bridge is actually not that far off in terms of performance vs Haswell and Ivy. That's a good deal for the i5 and GTX 560 ti. You'd be able to run all modern games on high 1080p except a few you'd put on medium.
