I have been experiencing high ping/latency for a bit more than a week. The ping can go around 400-700 in Team Fortress 2. I have been teleporting and delayed voice commands. When I am also playing, it feels all shaky. The router I have been using is a Cisco Linksys WRT54G Router which I purchased 7 years ago and is actively connected to two computers. The modem I am using is a Touchstone TM602A. Can you tell me how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance!

Solution
Check that the router firmware is up to date. Try power cycling both the modem and router. You may be on some bad hardware or there bad server between you and your ISP. Try speed test see if your system lags there too.
Run malware bytes scan see if something hogging your system. Log onto the router if it open you may have some leachers. Try using open dns or google dns to rule out bad ISP lag. Last test plug the modem into the pc to rule out the router.
