i have an:
AMD FX 8350 8 core processor
GA-970A-D3 mobo
600w modxstream-pro power supply
4x 4Gb of Corsair ram=16gb
and the problem child is my GeForce GTX 560 ti Graphics Processing derp...
Discovering 2 things from a friend no more tech savy then myself; it is preferable to have your gpu in the PCI-E x16 slot and not the x4 as to not bottleneck, and that since my x4 slot is too close to my power supply there isn't enough ventilation for it anyways so i should move it to the x16 slot where it has more room to breath.
what i did was simple, i read up on moving from one to another and discovered on this very site that i shouldn't have to un/re-install any drivers, and it should be a simple remove and replace from one slot to another with no re-installation of drivers. after i completed the switch i plugged everything back in and turned it on to receive...absolutely nothing. the leds turned on and all the fans too but the monitor was dark. it gracefully accepted the hard shut down so i assumed the mobo was fine, no need for unplugging.
after many minutes of freaking out and trying again i put the gpu back in the x4 slot and plugged everything back in. when i turned it on however, the screen remained dark. the monitor did not even register a signal.
tell it to me straight doc, is my 560 ti dead?
p.s. feel free to Eli5 since i only know a little about hardware problems such as this.
p.p.s. if need be, what should i get to replace it that's similar, unless there is a different issue entirely of course...
