Large Lag Spikes In Black Ops 2

I usually play BO2 with about 50 to 60 fps(i have a pretty old computer but it works fine for me) and every 2 minutes or even less i get large lag spikes.My frames drop from 60 to below 8.

My Computer Specs:
Processor: AMD Athlon II P32 Dual Core 2.1 GHz
RAM: Installed - 8 GB(6,75 GB Usable)
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Raedon HD5470 512MB
OS: Windows 7 Professional 32 bit

Its actually a laptop but it only oveheats if i have too much background programs running while im playing.I use gamebooster to close them or just close them manually but even tho its not overheating i still have lag spikes all the time...

I have nearly the same laptop as you and i play black ops 2 with around 35-50 fps with all the settings as low as possible and I have even made changes on my laptop so the display looks worse but improves performance. I get lag spikes frequently after i have played a few rounds, my fps drops to about 8-18 for about 30sec before it goes back up to around 40. Then the fps drops about 1min after it has stopped. I didn't have any problems with black ops 2 when i first started (still had all the graphics low) I think part of the reason is because it becomes a bigger file since it has all the data about you and all the videos in theater mode. By the way do you have problems with zombies because it lags like hell for me 5-30 fps

I already fixed it.It was my hard drive.A few weeks after this it broke.Now i have an ssd and there are no more lag spikes.Still tho because of my amd hardware i still play with about 40-50 fps ,sometimes lower...
