Hi,

We here have a solution for our remote offices to use a certain companies AP. Twice now the AP's have brought down our Router/Firewall. Blocking all traffic on the LAN side, but able to access the router on the WAN side and still able to PING the 10.x.x.254 private gateway. Yet, anything connected to the 8 port LAN switch on the back of the Router/Firewall will not pass any traffic until the two AP's are disconnected. Any thoughts?

You likely have exceeded some memory limitation in the router. There are only a fixed number of arp entries and mac entries the device can support. If it was only the ports on the lan side that went to the AP then I would be suspect of the AP but since it is all the ports on the router it means the router is the device with the problem. All going to depend how much information the router is will to share.

The best test would be to take 2 pc when it is broken and see if they can talk to each other. If they can then you need to look for ARP issues or maybe even a NAT table overload. If they cannot talk and they have valid ARP entries in the PC i would be suspect of a exceeded mac forwarding table in the router.
