USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT:I will be gaming 99% of the time, i LOVE to mod games especially Skyrim.

POWER SUPPLY: XFX 650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

PARTS PREFERENCES:None.

OVERCLOCKING: Yes

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: In one or two years

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1080p

I have been scratching my head about this for some time. The 760 looks appealing, however i would have to get the 4GB edition to properly mod things. I don't know if i should get the 760 4GB or spend the extra to get the 7970 or maybe just wait for the 9xxx series to release. Any help would be very much appreciated.

If you want to wait then get AMD 9xxx
Or if you want something that's pretty cheap but works pretty well get the 7950

U mean price of Radeon 9xxx series equivalent to Radeon 7950 ?? Can't say right now because not even specification of 9000 series is released by AMD let alone price.

I just noticed that Skyrim is one of your preferred games. In Skyrim, there is a difference in graphic quality between AMD and Nvidia. Nvidia cards allow you to enable Ambient Occlusion and AMD cards do not. Ambient Occlusion fundamentally affects the way the game looks throughout by enhancing shadows and making them more realistic.

You can check out the difference that Ambient Occlusion makes in Skyrim with AO: On versus AO: Off here (AMD cards look like the "AO: Off" screenshot):

As you can see from the performance chart above, for $250, a GTX 760 is a great value, running right about the same performance level of a 7970.
