Can wrong ram type damage laptops motherboard.

Hi I have this old ram that is broken, the serial on it says HYMP125S64CP8-S6 if I try to install 2 slots of M470T2953EZ3-CE6, can anything go wrong and if ram is incompatible can it damage laptop? Unfortunately I cannot tell which motherboard laptop has as I don't have laptop with me at the moment.

not likely unless you are trying to force ddr into ddr3 etc. Ive heard stories for people doing something like that on a desktop and it shorting the slots out.
