Hi. I Have A WD My Passport 1TB Black Portable Hard Drive. I Was Connecting It To USB 2 Before Updating My Motherboard And Buy A New One. I Was Getting 28 MB/SEC On USB 2. And When I Bought A New USB 3 Motherboard Which Is Gigabyte Z77. The Speed Is 38 MB/SEC When Connected To USB 3. I See That This Speed IS SLOW. Because It Should Reach 100MB/SEC ) I Think. I Have A New Motherboard With A New Fresh Windows 7 Installed With All Drivers Installed And Updated. Whats The Problem With The Speed ?

I Was Excited When I Bought The Motherboard About The Copying Speeds. Was Disappointed When There Was Only 10 MB / SEC Difference

My Passport Portable drives are 2.5'' 5400RPM drives. There is not a chance that it could reach 100Mbps.
Your drive is performing as expected.

All good, copy one large file, like 1GB plus and see what you get, it should go a little higher than that. But nothing strange about those speeds.

I have the same drive and i get 90 mbps. 38 mbps is actually pretty slow for USB 3.

1. Please dont necro/bump ancient threads. 2 YEARS on this one...

2. Are you sure its not a 7200RPM drive? The newer ones are. Another reason to not bump threads. Because information related to computers becomes outdated pretty fast.
