Setting up a switch vs adding access point?

Greetings! I currently have a Linksys E2000 router running in a room where it stands right next to the modem. Physically plugged in to that router is my home pc/server which mostly streams media to my Xbox via a 100 foot ethernet cable plugged directly into the Xbox. The Wifi signal does make it to the room with the Xbox and I run a Roku which sits next to the Xbox (laptop speed tests show 10mbit up and down). The speeds are a bit slower of course and I wanted to take more advantage of the Comcast 50Mbit speeds (the server upload and download speeds are spot on).

My question is if there will be a difference in performance or "which option may be wiser". I can either place a switch or wired router near the modem, and move the wireless router to the other end of the 100ft cable where most of the WiFi access is used. Or leave the router where it is and add an access point at the other end of the 100ft cable. In both cases I'd still have the Xbox plugged in for maximum speeds. Thoughts?

You will be lucky to get 50mb out of a wireless connection no matter how close you are. I am not familiar with a Roku but if you can hardware is the best way to go. With that I would put a gigabit switch on the end by the xBox and then connect everything hardwire to that.
