Hello,

I need to put thermal paste on an Intel i5 2410m CPU and NVIDIA GeForce 540m GPU (ASUS N53SV).

I want to know the best way to apply the Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste, I read that there are many ways of doing this, but what do you suggest?

Thanks.

Solution
Its all about personal preference, some people like doing it in a line and others like using the pea (or dot) method. In this scenario less is more for thermal paste appliance, do not put to much on otherwise you will see higher temperatures. Artic Silver 5 is good thermal paste it will definitely suffice. Take your time and look at some YouTube videos on how you apply thermal paste on a laptop CPU.

So you are suggesting to use a small drop in the center of the cpu die and let the pressure do the job? I read that is a possibility but the Arctic Silver Instructions for my cpu is: http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appmeth/int/ss/intel_app_method_surface_spread_v1.1.pdf

Can I do either way?

Thanks
