  1. The 7870 is the fastest of the 3, followed by the 660 and finally the 7850. Hope this helps!
  2. You might post a link to where you will shop.
In general, you will get fair value for your money at every price point.
Do not beat yourself up about performance differences.
At a given price point, you can't tell the difference in real life, only with a synthetic benchmark.
That said, there are other factors. If support is important to you, visit the support forums and see how comfortable you are.
Some cards will come with fancy fan coolers. Others will come with stock blower style coolers. There are tradeoffs.
I prefer cards with stock direct exhaust double slot coolers.
They get the hot vga air directly out the back of the case.
Other aftermarket coolers do a good job of cooling the vga chip i an open testbed.
But in a case, but then they just dump ht air back into the case where case cooling has to deal with it.
That heats up both the graphics card AND the cpu.
The cards you are looking at will want about a 500w psu.
  3. DO NOT get an AMD XFX card this generation. They are known to overheat and are generally known to have a hundred issues.

    There is one.

  6. AGAIN, do not get XFX... I linked a GHZ edition HD7870 MSI card @ 150Quid. MUCH better quality

Why the xfx has good reveiws and there is not one person that says it has overheated and has 100 problems ?
  8. Do a search of the forum and other forums, you will see that XFX has got soo many more threads than any other card manufacturer. Trust me on this one, with reviews you need to read BETWEEN the lines and not just the sites conclusions themselves.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11199-16-20G-Graphics-Display-Express/dp/B00A1572TQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376946127&sr=8-1&keywords=sapphire+7870+ghz
  11. Get it then, but don't say you weren't warned that getting an XFX card this gene is a lottery.

    What? All of them?

The vast majority of them, yes. I wish I could remember where we discussed this before... Bleh somewhere on the forum.
    Cheap VRMs.
    Overheating issues.
Highest RMA count of any AMD manufacturer.
    That sort of thing.

Mine has yet to go pop so I guess I'll sit on the fence for the moment but I do have to wonder how many of those cards were abused.

That would be relevant to any manufacturer. don't you think?
Just by looking at reviews, you will notice the AVERAGE OCing potential for HD7xxx series card from XFX is lower than any other manufactuerer. I remember seeing one review where voltages were fluctuating like crazy and when checked further they were getting pretty hot too.
  19. I always look at any results that come from OC'ing as something the average consumer should disregard as most won't bother with such things.

And I agree, but with those results you can already safely assume that they are using inferior VRMs that are more likely to fail.
  21. Well the XFX card I bought was the cheapest one of the bunch so maybe that has something to do with it.
