I have a 2010-11 HP Pavilion DV6-3126ea, i was in the middle of doing a full system restore when it overheated, now when i turn it on it tells me to use the CD that came with my laptop, but it did not contain a CD, i tried to install a fresh copy of Windows 7 as well but it comes with the same back screen. The only thing that seems to work is the BIOS, but i cant do much on the BIOS. Any response that will help me fix my laptop will be very much appreciated, Thank You.

You probably need to change the boot order in the bios to the optical drive first, the boot and hit a key when it asks and it will boot from the install DVD. You can then unpartition all existing partitions in the custom install option and then install to the remaining single space -- note that this will delete all information on your hard drive.

If there is important stuff on the hard drive you can do either a system restore if you can get an HP restore disk and still have the restore partition, or you could do a repair installation like THIS.
