Trying to configuring RAID 1 on a Dell XPS 7100 with Windows 7 Premium

I need to configure a Dell XPS 7100 for RAID 1 mirroring. OEM Win. 7 Premium is the original OS and what it has now. Dell issued my client a model-specific USB reinstall to take it to Win. 7 Pro, which does support software RAID 1 mirroring, whereas Premium does not. However, I cannot find any success in getting the USB reinstall key to change it to the Pro version.

I ran the reinstall PXE partition from the USB stick and it did in fact backup data and settings and did reinstall OS, but it was still the Premium version. I confirmed that Win. 7 Pro does in fact exists on a second partition of the USB drive from Dell, but it is not independently accessible. Could be in a package of some sort -- among the files is a BASE.WIM that seems to have the highest KB count.
I confirmed with Dell support that this USB drive they sent should work to get me from Premium to Pro, but as yet it has not.
My goal is to get my client up and running with a RAID 1 mirroring setup on two new 1TB hard disk drives, which are currently initialized. I'm wondering if hardware mirroring with just his Premium OS in place would work. The Premium OS resides on a 500GB HDD, so I might consider mirroring it to the other two. All three drives are SATA.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I would try grabbing a real win7 dvd install image, burn it to disk and use that. Feed it the key that you got from dell, that should work. It sounds to me like dell gave you one of their typical screwy install crap.
Edit: You can use any "retail" win7 dvd and feed it a OEM license key to work. So, you can grab a disk image from say, Digitallife.com and burn it to dvd and it will work.
