Hey peeps

I've been feeling like upgrading for a while as my current old budget rig lags a bit of edge in games like BF3, Dayz, War Thunder @ 1920x1200.

Current:

1st gen. i3 540 @ 3.8-4.4 ghz air
Asus p7p55d-e
evga gtx 570
8gb corsair xms3 1600 CL7

While knowing that a gfx upgrade would benefit the most right now i'm a bit low on cash and i've been thinking of going haswell and make myself sli ready and wait for two bang for the buck cards to show up, so here's my plan:

i5 4670K
Gigabyte z87x-d3h
G.Skill Trident 2400 cl9
Corsair ax 860i

The ram is overkill, but they cost pennies more than slower ones.. Big question is, besides overall desktop speed, should i expect to see any fps increase even slightly with this upgrade? Or, is the old cpu still in the fight zone and i should get a gtx 770-780 instead?

Cheers o/

Solution
I think you need to consider cpu/mb/RAM/graphics card as a package

Replacing just the graphics card wont help much , and replacing just the cpu/mb/RAM probably wont improve gaming at all

Thanks for the response, and i think i kinda came to the same conclusion. Gfx cards these days are just so pricey it made me wanna hang on to that already pricey 570, but i put a gtx 770 in the order right this minute.

Edit: And expectations for 2014 makes me unsure to empty my wallet for haswell, and the overall market just yet. You know, it's about catching a good wave and the 2nd and 3rd gen intel cores was were it was at it seems.

Well, i'll try and make myself clear here. Old PSU is some no name 500w crap, complete build is now planned as:

i5 4670K (gonna try running my old thermalright true on it, see if it pops at stock clock >_<)
Gigabyte z87x d3h
G.Skill 2400 cl9
Corsair AX 860i PSU
500 gb samsung evo 500 ssd + vertex 3 128gb and old HD for crap

In the future i could up for one more GTX 770 i believe and still be ok on the PSU? And also, i'd like a better PSU for overall stability, knowing it's alright.

Edit: Was also thinking about a SLI 760 setup, and hold back on the samsung SSD

Use this link

to select an appropriate size PSU
Remember that future generations of graphics cards will probably use LESS power . Also keep in mind that even a single GTX 770 can play any game very well at 1080p resolution

You have two SSD's in your list? Most people would use one as a boot drive and then get another hard drive for data storage . This is a good compromise of speed and cost . A 256 gig SSD is plenty for windows and installed applications .

Seems i suck at making myself clear, hehe sorry, getting lost in a slight language barrier :)

Very nice link and thx. The 2nd SSD is an old one along with the mechanical hd. I currently run windows and keep games on that 128, and once you go SSD it's impossible to go back, and i'm running out of game space, so that's reason for the 500gb ;)

I will go gtx 770 i belive while hoping they don't dissapear before i can afford another one. I believe the trick is to run the psu @ 50% where they typicly work best power/electricity bill. Anyway, believe i'll just go ahead and order. :)
