Hello guys,

I am fairly new to the computer world and wanted a chance to experience the PC gaming world, now ive been doing some research on GPUs and ive come to like the GIGABYTE GV-N760OC-4GD GeForce GTX 760 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card.

Now I wanted to build the cheapest PC that will not bottle-neck the GTX 760s capabilities and to be honest i am a little confused with CPU specs and motherboards. If anybody can offer me some piece of advice i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Solution
if your on a tight budget amd, if not intel.

in saying that, the card is pcie version 3.0 where as amd mother boards still only support 2.0 (personally in a couple of weeks i will also have my first ever gaming pc, with an amd fx 8350, asus gtx 760 and a 970a-ud3 mother board) but if you want to get the absolute maximum out of the card (even though the difference is only 5-10%, then you should be getting an intel because their mobos support v3.0)

you also gotta factor in wether you want upgrade in the future (sli?)

most people still recommend and i5 3750k as the best gaming processor from what ive seen, but then again are you intending on overclocking your system...or just running stock setting... theres so many things that need to...

Thanks for the replies! I will look into some of the CPUs mentioned. My budget is around 700 dollars (not including OS,Monitor, keyboard, and mouse price) but i would prefer to spend 600 if it doesn't affect the performance too drastically. I don't think im planning to upgrade any time soon unless its completely necessary.

lol, maybe downgrading my graphics card would be the ideal option since it does take a a big chunk of the budget, im not sure though

In very rare cases the cpu may bottleneck the graphics card but in most it won't. Given your budget and that you want a 760 this is the best i can do.

you need at least a 500w psu but what you really need to look for is how many amps it produces on the 12v rail, a gtx 760 requires at least 30 amps, so you want maybe a 45+ amp psu.

at bare minimum you want and 80plus bronze psu, but silver, gold and platnum are even better. best bet is to find a few options you want and then look up reviews/benchmarks on the specific model, psu is a very important component and shouldnt be taken lightly
