I had some old password files on my computer I didn't want, so I used CCleaner's system wiper (wipes the free space multiple times). After the 2 or 3 days of it wiping, I woke up to my $2,000 computer not responding.
After restarting, my 2TB Storage D: drive was missing.
I couldn't find it in BIOS, nothing, and I CANNOT lose this drive; it has my entire business on it.
After powering off/on, the disk came back, but when I was backing up a folder, the computer became unresponsive again (windows were not responding, etc).
I restarted - 2TB Hard Disk missing again (even in BIOS).
I'm like f**k..
I then tried another complete power off/on.
Storage drive is now back, but I KNOW this is going to happen again.. (this was all in a period of 45 minutes). I checked D: for errors - no errors. Backed up some important stuff from my drive.
This is a new internal drive (used without problems for 5 months), I use it as a storage next to my SSD.
I know this has something to do with this peice of crap free software CCleaner.
What do y'all suggest? Borrow my brother's 1TB external > move all files > reformat my 2TB internal > replace all files?
I don't want to do this unless I really have to.. Help me, TomsHardware!
