Old parts in a new case!

So I've been thinking about upgrading slowly, I've got this ancient Dell Studio XPS that burned out the radeon 4850 in it, so now I'm trying to address the issues a bit at a time.

i7 920 @ 2.67 Ghz
6GB Ram
Radeon x1950
Dell Studio XPS 435MT (MOBO)
Corsair CX500 PSU (Upgraded from a 350 or something PSU)
Crappy Dell Studio XPS case

Now I'm fairly confident that what burned out the 4850 was PSU and overheating.
My friend is giving me his old GTX 295. Now I'm trying to safely utilize it using as many existing parts rather than burning this GTX 295 out as well. To that end I was gonna nab a Corsair Air 540 case for some cooling. I think I might need a bit over 500W PSU as well. The real question is, will the other parts adjust to the new items? Will that be all I need? In short, is the following config possible (and healthy!)

i7 920 @ 2.67 Ghz
6GB Ram
GTX 295
Dell Studio XPS 435MT (MOBO)
Corsair CX500 PSU
Corsair Air 540 case

Thanks for any assist guys! These forums are a blast of knowledge!
