I dont think it would effect that much but

The Stream my game is also another thing you can use

and if you want hd i suggest you use wired lines not wireless NAS is one Option.

A capture card will tax the CPU exactly the same. At least with Fraps, you can select video size and FPS.

hmm, I have an i7-920. If I OC'ed that to 4 GHz do you think that would stop the frame drops in games while recording?

There would be no frame drops. You'd put in the capture card into the other PC, which will do all the work. Then you either get a HDMI splitter or pass the HDMI though the capture card, and then put it onto your monitor.

The capture card that I linked has an built-in encoder, so it wouldn't take any CPU power anyway. You could get a cheaper one without an encoder, if you use another PC for capture.

I meant, if I didn't get a separate capture card, do you think I could eliminate frame drops b OC'ing that high?

Maybe? Probably not though, if you're having frame drops already. But it should help quite a lot.
