just finished my new build with my Z87 Pro mb, everything seems to be fine, except the 'Boot Device LED' stays on red after power is turned on, and there is no signal to my monitor.
Very new to all of this, any help/guidance would be great. Thanks.

It would help detailing the components.
Have you tried starting the board with single RAM stick, only DVD drive installed and using the onboard graphics (without graphics card).

okay so: ASUS Z87 Pro mb, ASUS GTX 760 video card, 16GB of Corsair Vengeance (2 sticks of 8GB), 1TB Western Digital Velociraptor and i7 4770.

So should I try with just 1 stick of ram, and the DVD Drive plugged in? should I leave the hard drive plugged in?

Have you installed windows? Windows installation disk in DVD tray? OR Is windows installed? Did you select the proper boot device in bios?

I can't even get that far, no signal on my monitor, so unable to reach the BIOS screen, although I have a Windows 7 disk in my DVD Drive already. Black screen. I wanna cry.

I have just tried with the graphics card unplugged, the hard drive unplugged, and one stick of RAM. Still nothing on my screen, but the 'Boot Device LED' light no longer stays on, which is good. But I'm seeing '62' on the motherboard which apparently means 'Installation of the PCH Runtime Services' .. are we getting somewhere?

PROGRESS. I took out the GPU and I managed to access the BIOS, only to discover an error with the CPU Fan not running fast enough (350-390rpm) which I have selected to ignore for the mean time and come back to later, will it just be a simple case of plugging in my GPU after I have installed windows? is there anything else I need to do?

Set in BIOS the primary display for PCie, save, exit and turn off the computer. Install the graphics card, make sure that the PCIe power cables are properly connected and start the board.

okay so I managed to find what you were talking about, but went into it a second time, and the settings had been reverted, and I had definitely saved the changes. It's weird, I'm getting windows sounds, but I just cant see anything on the screen! :(

In BIOS, Advanced menu, System Agent Configuration, Graphics Configuration, you'll find Primary Display. It is set by default to Auto. Set it to PCIE, save, exit, turn off, ....
If not working, clear the CMOS, remove the graphics card and connect to the onboard. But I think that it will work.
Make sure you properly connect the PCIe power cables to the graphics card (if needed).

VGA, works fine without the graphics card, tried HDMI too, but no change there. I have also just noticed that the CPU Cooler fan has stopped working with the graphics card installed

Try reconnecting the CPU fan wires to the motherboard's header.

I've plugged the CPU fan into another four pin fan socket on the motherboard, and dare I say it, all is working fine! Is is alright to leave the fan plugged into that socket? or does it need to be in the plug specifically for the CPU?

It should be connected to the CPU or CPU_OPT fan, for adjusting the fan speed according to the CPU temperature.

I have z87 deluxe new build would not get past post and did not give output to hdmi.
Red light on motherboard was suggesting graphics problem. Disconnected hdmi from Tv and the post got past this part codes 62 then 99 and 62. After advice removed all usb and other peripherals. Still no change. Removed battery and held cosmos re set for short while this did not appear to work. left the pc and the Asus boot bios menu showed on the screen. I had changed TV as well to see if this made any difference. My thoughts are that something on the Hdmi on the other Tv effected the cosmos bios ability to work.
I need to get a key board usb 2 etc to continue the old one I had was wireless.
When the pc was sitting in the status of code 99 it may be I waited a while. Still unsure as to what has allowed me to get to the bios from the post start up and to see a graphics output.
