update1: I got my PC to work ok, but when trying to connect 2 extra internal drives they work for a little bit then vanish... not detectable at all. dont show in BIOS either. during POST instead of drives names all i see is like this:

drive1: Intel SSD
drive2: .
drive3:

**************************************

update2: bought a brand new PSU - did NOT fix the issue.... i am pissed now because i think the only thing left is motherboard...

so far i have swapped

harddrives
PSU
video card
RAM

and issue still persists... the only things i cannot test is motherboard or cpu (dont have replacement on hand)

TOPIC:

Hi everyone. I hope I am posting in the right forum, since I am not sure which component is at fault.

My computer began to randomly freeze to the point of no return. When it happens I gotta push the power button to shut it down. From what I gathered - my computer randomly stops seeing a drive (maybe losing power?). When it happens it obviously crashes.

sometimes if i wait for 5 min - it unfreezes - for just 10 seconds, then freezes again. eventually after about 10 minutes screen turns black. sometimes mouse is still movable, but most of the time not.

the hard drive is fine - i did all kinds of tests and everything passed.
switched video card just in case - still the same issue
switched RAM - still the same issue

At one point I was doing a check disk and i guess the drive lost power and check disk failed - it could no longer see the drive!

it seems to happen randomly. this morning i have spent 3 hours on PC and it works FINE! Any ideas? I am guessing something is wrong with the PSU, but not 100% sure.

my specs:
650 PSU
nvidia 680
16gb ram
i5
i5 comp mb (cant remember what model)
SSD 80GB

( i ran memory tests already and even switched memory completely so memory isnt the issue )

since i only have ONE SSD plugged in im guessing its hooked up to port3?

Raidmax RX-630Z. i got speedfan and seems like my CPU was overheating. Its supposed to be 30-45C but it was showing 68! - and in BIOS i have protection set to 70C. It could be that CPU was reaching 70 and cutting some power off?

I redone heat paste on CPU and so far it seems to be working! (crossing fingers!)

i will come back to this thread soon to update the info!
