Hi, I built a computer from parts on newegg, parts listed below. So I have it assembled correctly I think powers on fine. I put in the windows 8 CD start the install process and from watching videos online from my understanding when it gets to the point where it has just finished installing and its going to boot from hard drive for the first time after a restart, it just keeps doing the first step again where i install windows again. I have tried messing with the boot order in bios so I come to toms hardware my last hope in a world without an operating system will you come to my aid ?

Looks as if only optical drive enabled in Boot Menu. Power on and tap Del key to enter BIOS.
Go to Boot tab and check your HDD enabled in Boot Sequence, probably under Hard Drive BBS Priorities

I have done this still not working, here are the other options that are set in bios maybe this will help. In SATA Configuration, Onchip Sata Channel / Enabled. OnChip SATA Type / Native IDE. SATA IDE Combined Mode / Eneabled. Under boot i have Setup Prompt Timeout / 2. BootupNumLock State / On. GateA20 Active / Upon Request. Options ROM Messages / Force BIOS. Interrupt 19 Capture / Disabled. BIOS Flash Protection / Enabled. Boot Success Beep / Enabled. Boot Option #[SATA: WDC WD10EZEX-60ZF5A0. Boot Option #2 [SATA: ATAPI iHAS124 W]. Boot Option #3 [Windoes Boot Manager]. Boot Option #4 [UEFI: ATAPI iHAS124 W].

What do you think i still cant get windows to boot from the Hard Drive

Problem is this UEFI technology is relatively new to everyone, and I'm still using old style BIOS on my machines, so can't 'experiment'. Look for a Set Default option in your Setup, try that. Change the Boot Order around, make ATAPI 1st, disable UEFI Boot then Windows Boot, mess around with it until you find something that works. Only change one at a time though, lest you get lost...

Thanks for the help thus far, i found this on UEFI BOOT, http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2299-clean-install.... Anyway, i have disabled uefi boot and it says setting up devices, then restarted then just sits as a black screen. If i have the option of UEFI BOOT does that mean i have to use it ? Do i have the option of not using UEFI boot and use the more common system im used to ?

This may sound dumb but did you remove the disk for the reboot? Also which drive did you put 8 on , I see by what you posted that you have a wd drive, and atapi, I just did my first build so I'm not really good at this yet, but the problem I had was not changing the clock so next time I tried turning it on the computer didn;t know it should work....lol...strange huh.

You know I didnt remove the disk, but from my understanding because of my boot order it said press any key to boot from disk i didnt respond, then the bios goes to the next option the hard drive with the partition on it. I have changed the boot order from my first post. But ya i did also try the disk removed now same results :(  got any other pointers ?

Don't see an option for 'Legacy BIOS', but you can set Legacy mode for Onchip SATA channel on the Advanced tab.
Can you confirm that you installed to Unallocated Space and not to an existing partition? Also that your Date/Time are correct?

Don't know about the allocated space as Dodger said but his last part was about the date and time is what I said also. Wrong date and time and the computer doesn't know it should be on this planet...lol. I would start from scratch, blank out your hdd and reinstall. Before it trys to boot from hdd go to bios and fix the date time thing. Hope that works.
