Hi,

I want to know which processor will perform better from the following.

1)
# of Cores: 2
# of Threads: 4
Clock Speed: 2.7 GHz
Cache: 4 MB.

No turbo boost present in this one.

Vs.

2)

# of Cores: 2
# of Threads: 4
Clock Speed: 1.7 GHz
Cache: 4 MB.
Turbo Boost" 3.3 GHz

Please tell me which one is better?

There is no 2.7ghz sb, ib, or hw with no turbo which made me believe it was a turbo speed so is either an incorrect listing or looking at the spec sheet wrong. Though there is a 2.6, the title and post don't match. I'd also like to know laptop models and prices.

Guys,

I am trying to decide between macbook air and macbook pro. The choice really comes dows to the processors. I want to get a laptop with better performance but with good design.

Macbook air has turbo boost i7 but with a clock speed of 1.7ghz.

where as Macbook Pro has i5 with 2.6 ghz clock speed.

So, Can I get Macbook Air considering it cools down petty fast,?

The mba will not turbo for very long and it does not cool down fast. Especially for anything cpu intensive like compiling, it will be too hot and run at 1.7 and be noticeably slower. But for that price you can get a much faster quad core and a current gen cpu with better battery life. They haven't been updated and are still using last gen. I don't think you need the retina display. You could always just find a 1080p display. And also a 15" will give you more screen space.
