Hey guys/gals,

I'm trying to decide which video cards in sli would be right for me. I am going to be getting the Gtx 770s and now, i need to decide if I should get the 2gb or the 4gb models.

I currently use dual monitors for everyday tasks (may wish to add a third), but only one for gaming at 1080P (I'm fine with 1080 for the future); however, I'm dumping a lot of money into this system and I want it to be a decent system in the future and not need to upgrade for at least 4 years (minimum).

So, with the trend in gaming will 2gb be enough in 2,3,4, maybe even 5+ years?

You'll really benefit from the 4GB version, as you're using dual monitors.

at 1080p you could probably make do with 2gb but i would suggest getting the 4gb as its not much of a price increase and you will be better off in the long run.

There seems to be little benefit from 2gb vs. 4gb.
Here is a report that tested GTX680 cards with 2 and 4gb.

I think spend your money elsewhere.

Surprising, I thought that having a higher video RAM would make some kind of difference when using multiple monitors. Instructive.

Perhaps I would be better off with a single 780 now and add a second in a year or two? I realize the 770 in sli will outstrip a single 780 for now but, also for now, a single 780 isn't bad. Thoughts?

I think he stated he uses 1 1080 monitor for gaming.

I like a single monitor when it will do the job. For a single monitor, I think a GTX780 is wonderful.
It is simpler, and you will get less lagging that you might get from dual cards.
My take is that if the future brings a great need for more graphics power, I will simply sell the GTX780 and buy the next best thing.
