ok so this card has caused me soo much issues its crazy..

My new dilemma with this card is that I cant access the bios after installing this video card. When I turn of my computer I just get a black screen until windows loads up. This seems to be common as I have been reading some threads on here with people which had to same problem. I read through them but most were from 2009 and most suggestions did not work.

What I have done so far is

I removed the card and connected the onboard video to access BIOS. There were no indication or keys to press so I just used the the windows trick to reboot into BIOS. Looked for a area were I could select PCIE for video but my BIOS, AMI or Acer, doesn't have this option.

I tried to disable, uninsal the onboard drivers to see if the system just saw the 6450 and it displayed the BIOS screen and nothing. ALL black until windows came up.

I'm pretty much at a stand still right now. Do you I need constant access to my BIOS? NO, but say I need to boot to USB or run a repair disk or reformat my computer? Yes I could just remove the 6450 and connect to onboard every time I need to do this but I don't really want to go through this hassle. I know most have resolved this by changing the BIOS setting to PCIE but I don't have this option.

I know its not the card because this is the second 6450 I got. First one did the same thing. I returned it due to this and a issue I had with the card thinking I have 2 displays but I have that all sorted out now.

any ideas?

thanks

I did not see a new version on the manufactures, gateway, website. I am connected via HDMI which I though could be a problem but the on board video connection is also HDMI and I see the BIOS screen fine when connected on board.

I just tried the DVI and it did not work. I tried a different monitor and it did not work. Dont have a VGA with me right now. I would think its not the card as this is the second card that does this. This is killing me, for example I just had to reformat my computer again and I had to remove the card. I dont want to keep messing with the card as I dont want to damage it or the PCIE slot.. ugh....

Well smeezekitty thanks for making me doubt myself. I went in a took a look again and started googling things I didn't know. Secure boot stood out to me. So I googled it and it seems this secure boot is what's giving most video cards problem with the BIOS as the BIOS runs in some sort of protected way and the card doesn't work until it reaches windows.

Once I disabled secured boot it worked like a charm. Now no problem. There's really isn't a select PCIE for video but this did the trick!!
