Hey y'all, I'm looking to upgrade the card in my mostly factory standard Gateway DX4870, more or less looking for yes or no on the card and some education on why/why not, so I came here looking for a bit of help.

Currently, I'm running the DX4870 with:
i7 Processor at 3.4ghz,
11gb RAM (I know, unusual number),
300w Factory standard PSU,
current card is an Nvidia GeForce 310 (Ancient, from an older PC, card runs in lieu of integrated graphics)
All going to a Samsung SyncMaster 931 1440x900 monitor

More or less the only change made was the addition of the older card I had lying around, which helped substantially for what I was looking to play.
Currently, I'm playing:
Fallout New Vegas (runs pretty soundly),
ARMA II, DayZ (runs rather mediocre),
GTAIV (playable at very low settings),
TF2 and L4D2 (run pretty well at low)

I'm not so much looking to run everything ultra settings, pretty much want a good framerate on low or medium, and perhaps be able to play some newer games too (BF3, super low perhaps?) Also, the advised PSU rating is for 400w here and I'm a bit under, for future reference, should I completely disregard this card and any other above the rating? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

The 7750 is a good entry level card PROVIDED you get the one with GDDR5. It will run without any additional power connectors, but the OEM psus from Gateway, Dell, HP, etc are not known for their quality. You would be wise to invest in a quality psu from Corsair, XFX, Seasonic or Antec (500w will be plenty). If you can pop for a few more $$, the 7790 or gtx 650ti boost is a nice step up without breaking the bank, and either will run with the better psus.
