Thinking about overclocking i5 2500k

Im thinking about overclocking my i5 2500k processor. What do i need as far as parts to hit 4.5GHZ and my mobo will be linked down below and im willing to buy a new mobo if needed also im using the stock cooler that came with the cpu

stock cooler, no overclocking. that motherboard is probably only good for about a safe 4.2. you wont notice the extra 300mhz anyway, just make sure you get a decent cooler before you try it.

get an aftermarket cooler..

Find a decent Giga SB overclocking guide..
I would guess it would be by Sin0822.
I can't help there..only have done AsRock and Asus.

Just to add relating to aftermarket coolers and memory. Some aftermarket coolers, if not most are quite big and wide and often the adjustable fan mounted on the heatsink can sometimes get in the way of the memory sticks with tall heat spreaders.

Fans using mounting wire can be adjusted higher off center slightly for room.

Just thought id let you know.

depends on what your doing. if you are benchmarking, then yes. gaming, then depends on your gpu.

Sick, Yea at first i was kinda nervous bout doing it but i rather overclock and get more out of my money then having to upgrade to ivy bridge/haswell
