I have a 450 Watt PSU.
It can supply 14 A on its 12 V line, 34 A in 5V line and so on.
Now i have two peltiers(TEC) which draw 15A on 12 V and 6A on 12 V respectively.
Is it possible to run these peltiers in parallel on my PSU?
The 12 V rail has a current rating of 14 A only.
But i'm NOT going to use the rest of the pins for anything else. Just going to power the two peltiers , 2 fans and a 10W led strip.
The net power consumption is 12*15+12*6+50(2 fans and leds) = 302 W
Will my SMPS be able to power this ?
I'm going to draw all the power from the 12 V line only .
Will i be able to draw more current from it(12V) if i don't use the other 3.3 and 5 V pins ?
Will i be able to draw 23A current from a 12V rail if i don't use the other 3.3 and 5 V pins ?
The SMPS sticker reads 14 A on 12 V

Yeah its a very old one i pulled from ruins , it works though.
Just wanted to use it as a power source to the Peltiers .
So you are saying , there is no way i can pull more than 14 A from the 12V rail , even though i leave the other 5 and 3V rails unused ?
The total power i'm going to draw is still below 450W .
Only that i'm going to draw it from 12 V pins..

Thanks.
So ill give it a try,
I Dont mind as long is it does not affect the peltiers.
;)
My total power consumption will be close to 300 W on the 12 V rail .

Or can i do it this way ?
Power my 12V 15 A peltier using the 12 V rail . [Max Power drawn = 180W on 12V rail]
Connect 3.3 , 5 and another 3.3 in series so that it totals to 11.6 V
and then connect this to my 12 V 6A peltier .[Max Power drawn = 72W on two 3.3s and one 5V combined ]
Will this setup work ?
Can i even combine two 3.3s and 5 in series and get a 11.6 V ?
Or can i combine +5V a +3.3V and +5VSB to get a 13.3 V and then power my 6 A peltier
Note that i'm drawing less power[72] on this combined line .
This is my SMPS label , stole the pic from internet (not actually mine)

So The conclusion is to Power my devices with a 12 V 25 A dedicated Power supply ?
